Founded by Brian Seiler, Silverback Drum Shack has been restoring vintage drum kits in Kingsport, TN since 2012. The care and attention with which these drums are restored owes to Brian’s lifelong love of all things drums. Despite holding down a day job as a chemist/lab manager for more than thirty years, drumming has always been in his blood, and he’s played in dozens of bands over the years.

That love translated itself into collecting, and eventually restoring, the types of vintage drum sets he always admired in his youth. Upon retirement, Brian found himself with more drum sets than his man cave would hold and began selling them to other drum aficionados. He also began building furniture and other décor items out of drums and assorted musical equipment.

Silverback Drum Shack is a passion project that allows Brian to share his unique gift with other drum lovers. He specializes in giving vintage drum sets new life as “player” kits, so that they can be seen and heard as they were in the peak of life.

Philosophy: We are not about competing with Ebay sales and the like, although many projects did begin with “scores” on Ebay. Rather, the Shack is about rescue and restoration of vintage drums and the repurposing of lesser finds in unique décor designs. To be clear, we are NOT about “harvesting” (or “parting out”) valuable drums. We aim to provide new life for fabulous vintage drums in sets that professional drummers will cherish and use in their performances.
