(SOLD!) 60's Vintage Ludwig-Rogers Blue Oyster Pearl Drum Set
This is a legit ‘60’s vintage Ludwig-Rogers kit in highly-sought blue oyster pearl (not the more common black oyster pearl popularized by Ringo) and the wrap is original on all but the snare. The latter is an over-wrapped Ludwig “Supraphonic” (Chrome over Aluminum) which had “flaked” badly, as is a common occurrence with those snares. The over-wrap is a woven carbon-fiber sheet, which looks pretty decent (although the central bead made the overwrapping difficult, leading to some minor problems). The sizes are 22 x 14” bass drum, 12 x 8” rack tom, 16 x 16” floor tom, and 14 x 5” snare. This was definitely a drum rescue project, as the prior owner was forced to liquidate these beauties “as they were”, and considerable restoration was performed in our shop. The floor tom is a Rogers drum of the same era, covered with essentially the same wrap as the kick and rack tom. Three of those famous hex-shaped Rogers floor tom legs are included. Pictures show the extremely close color match of the main drums, as it was common to find vintage drums from different manufacturers that were made with essentially the same wrap. The Rogers script logo can be seen in some of the pictures provided. Also, some very minor “spider web cracking” is evident on that particular drum. (disappears when viewed just a few feet away) All of the drums look great under stage lights, and premium drum heads are included.
